Millennials…We’re Obsessed with Digital
Are you reading this on your mobile device? If I were the betting type, I’d bet that you’re on your phone right now—especially if you found this post from our Instagram feed. In 2016, The Nielsen Company reported 98% of all U.S. millennials own a smartphone. Google broke that statistic down and discovered 80% of millennials have their smartphone at their side, day and night.
Think about it. What’s the last thing you see before you fall asleep? Or how about the first thing you see when you wake up? Is it your spouse, your fluffy kitty cat, or maybe a book? If you’re a millennial, chances are you’re near those things, but you’re reaching for your smartphone.

What This Means for Marketing
Why is this important? If you’re a marketer trying to reach the millennial demographic, you might want to keep those early morning/late night time slots in mind when planning email marketing or social media content. Knowing that 30% of all U.S. e-commerce is done from a mobile device, those time windows could be the perfect opportunity to convert a lead into a purchaser.
From now until Christmas, we’ll be releasing one digital trend each day. Think of them as stocking stuffer statistics to equip you with the information you need to get your boss to increase your digital marketing budget. After all, 2018 is a new year and it could be the year for more leads.
