Each year, Reusser Design has the opportunity to participate in the Fort Wayne American Advertising Federation Awards (AdFed). AdFed is a “non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and improving the advertising industry, fostering higher standards of practice in advertising, expanding recognition of advertising, and cultivating a better understanding of the economic and social values of advertising to all people.”
In short, AdFed does a great job at seeking out and promoting local advertising talent. Talent from various areas and divisions of advertising are represented including, but not limited to: online advertising, video work, non-profit advertising, publications, sales promotion, and more. At Reusser Design, we love being part of this. Nate shared that he “loves being involved in the local advertising awards because it’s a place that promotes all the local talent in Northeast Indiana. It is great to see what our peers are doing in the industry, and provides a way for us to support the local design community.”
This year, Reusser Design was honored with 4 awards at the AdFed ceremony. Taking home 2 Silver Awards and 2 Gold Awards was an exciting achievement for our team, and we are extremely thankful to the Fort Wayne AdFed for taking time to recognize our work. Here’s an overview on the projects that earned us these awards.
SILVER AWARD – IOTRON WEBSITE
Iotron is an international company specializing in electron based sterilization and materials modification. The company deals with plastics, pest & pathogen control, chain scission, aerospace & defense, food & agriculture, medical sterilization, and more. We had a great time discerning the best approach for this website. Making it clean and user friendly, while explaining complicated processes and information was essential. The Iotron team was great to work with, and we are happy with the project turn-out.
SILVER AWARD – THE HOPPY GNOME WEBSITE
The Hoppy Gnome is a new restaurant in Downtown Fort Wayne. This project was a blast for Reusser Design because the client trusted us in more areas than just web development — they trusted us with their food! That’s right, we were invited to taste test several menu items, give input on food pairings, and be involved in the beginning of the process. We’re big on tacos at Reusser Design. We celebrate Taco Tuesday every week, so the fact that we could taste test meant a lot to us! This attitude carried over into the website development, as well. The client was relaxed and open to creativity throughout the whole process. This gave us room to do what we do best.
Our UX Designer, Javon, was able to implement several functionality features with the client in mind. For example, the food menu and drink menu are entirely HTML. This gives the client an opportunity to update the menu on-the-fly. This is important in the restaurant business. Additionally, The Hoppy Gnome wanted to give their guests a great parking experience, so the website caters to helping guests feel at ease when searching for parking. Check out their website, and see if you can find the hidden easter egg!
GOLD AWARD – IOTRON USER EXPERIENCE (UX) – PROCESS ANIMATION PAGE
We mentioned our relationship with Iotron Industries earlier, but we also received a specific award for the process animation page within the Iotron website. This page was custom animated and explains an extremely complicated process in an easy-to-follow manner. The page is animated and interactive in order to provide easy-access information. The features developed within the page give surprise bits of knowledge by clicking on certain shapes or colors. It’s a fun and visually appealing way to present complicated facts. See for yourself!
GOLD AWARD – WATERFURNACE SYMPHONY APP
The Symphony App was an exciting collaboration between WaterFurnace, Inc and Reusser Design. WFI built an online and real-time system for controlling the thermostats they create. We had the freedom to design an interface that was modern and innovative. Users have the ability to change the various settings on their thermostat right from the application. The app can also deliver notifications to homeowners, letting them know about issues as soon as they arise. Another functionality highlight within the app is the ability to view real-time energy usage. This is important since WFI markets their Geothermal Units as a way to save on electricity costs. Offering this feature provides a way for users to see their energy cost and know they made the right choice by buying with WaterFurnace Inc.
The AdFed awards gave us the opportunity to review projects we’ve worked on and reminded us of the incredible span of talent in the Fort Wayne area. We feel privileged and thankful to be included among the very talented groups and organizations present at the awards. We look forward to working hard this year and celebrating at next year’s AdFed Awards.
